Dr Prabhuraj Venkatraman: Project Lead
- Dr Prabhuraj Venkatraman is a Senior Lecturer in Textile Technology and Research Degrees Coordinator for Manchester Fashion Institute, Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester, U.K.
- He is a Chartered Fellow of the Textile Institute, Manchester, UK (CText FTI); he has a PhD in Medical Textiles and an MSc in Technical Textiles from the University of Bolton, U.K.
- His specific interests are in Technical Textiles, focusing on developing bio-functional textiles and high-performance engineering and textile applications.
- This includes developing innovative bio-materials and nano-fibres using sustainable approaches and techniques intended for sportswear, medical and hygiene applications.
- He has successfully supervised four PhD students and four Masters by Research (primary supervisor) and supervised many UG and PG project dissertations. He currently supervises two PhD students.
- He has disseminated his research widely in publications and conferences. His recent book on ‘Materials and Technology for Sportswear and Performance Apparel’ by CRC press is widely read and adopted by Universities globally.
Prof. Usha Sayed: Collborative Lead
- Prof. Usha Sayed is a Professor of Fibres and Textile processing technology with vast research and teaching experience of 35 years.
- She has guided 130 Master's and four PhD students. She has 150 international publications and six book chapters to her credit.
- She has successfully completed four government projects and three private sponsored projects.
- Her research interests include surface modification of fibers and natural finishes dyeing with natural dyes.
- Studies of bio-polymers synthesis of cationic fixing agent and speciality chemicals and dyes, recycling, and reuse.
- Her research projects in wet wipes, superabsorbents, Gemini surfactant, and green approach using natural biopolymers and enzymatic studies have been well-received by peers in this field.
Sneha B. Parte: PhD Scholar
- Sneha B. Parte has a Ph.D. (Sci.) in Fibres and Textile Processing Technology from Institute of Chemical Technology, India.
- Her major research domain is in the novel natural materials that provide unique properties to non-woven fabrics/textile.
- These unique natural materials include plant extract, essential oils, natural surfactants, and emulsions.
- Her research was addressing a delivery mechanism for these natural materials through nonwoven fabrics.
- She has several national and international publications and presented her work at multiple seminars.
